Audition Preparation Information
NOTE: We value your time and that of all actors. You may be stopped before the end of your audition. This is not a reflection of your performance only that the directors
have seen or heard what they need to. If you have a specific part of your song you feel is very important, try to start near that portion so you are not stopped before
reaching it.
- Monologue:
- Memorized monologue should be a maximum of 1 minute.
- Song:
- Please prepare 16 - 32 bars of a song. Your song should showcase your acting ability and skills while singing.
- Audition song can be performed a capella or with an accompaniment CD/MP3 Player. Song may have Back up vocals on the CD/MP3 but no lead vocals. If CD/MP3 is used it must be cued to the start of your song. Also, we cannot be responsible if CD/MP3 does not play properly.
- Pop-style songs preferred.
- The personal use of an MP3 player and earbuds by an actor will not be allowed during the audition.
- Suggestions for your song:
- Select a song that showcases your voice and your vocal range.
- The Music Director will have a pitch pipe at auditions. Please know your starting pitch and you may ask to hear it before singing.
- Select a song that has as few key changes as possible. Key changes do not translate well to acapella solos.
- Select a song that does not have lots of rests or sing the song without those rests.
- If possible, pick a song that shows some quick delivery of words and pitches as well as some longer, sustained notes.
- Dance:
- Auditioners will be taught a simple dance pattern at the audition, please wear dance friendly shoes.

Fun! Kids and adults have a great time working together to produce a great show. Whether you're on stage or part of the stage/tech crew you're a valuable part of a terrific show.
Being part of a CTM show is a big commitment not only for the individual but for their family. Rehearsals are as frequent as 4 times per week, and for two weeks prior to the show everyone is required to be available every day during non-school hours.
All the hard work that is done is worth it and a life-long memory is yours to show for it!
