Performance Workshop - The Tortoise Versus The Hare

February 6-11, 2012 $100 - $160

The Tortoise Versus The Hare

Your child will shine! The always-popular Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) invites young actors/directors in grades K - 12 to audition for The Tortoise Versus The Hare, on Monday, February 6. CTM will once again partner with MCT to present a classic story and stage opportunity.

The Tortoise Versus The Hare Somewhere in desert country, the inhabitants of West Sandy Bottoms are preparing for the highlight of their year – the annual race between the Reptiles and the Mammals. Strolling actors tell the tale in classical fashion. The Hare's weasely managers brag about their racing star as the various reptiles assemble to choose their candidate. As we see the race through the eyes of a TV news team covering the event, we soon discover that there is more than a sporting rivalry between the brown animals and the green animals. Loyalties to their specific colors create a real animosity among these creatures. Sound familiar? As the race proceeds, a tiny bunny is lost in the wilds and color is forgotten as the mammals and reptiles join in the search. The wisdom of the old tortoise and the lesson learned by the cocky hare remind us all that "color is just a color – it's just decorated skin."

Two professional MCT Tour Actor/Directors will work with a cast of 60+ local children (and up to 4 assistant directors) in this full-length original musical production. The week culminates in 2 public performances on Saturday at the Mason Middle School Auditorium complete with professionally designed scenery and costumes.

  • Practices are held 4:30pm - 9:00pm Monday through Friday at CTM studios 308 West Main St, Mason OH
  • Dress rehearsal is Saturday at 10:00am and performances are Saturday at 4:00pm and 7:00pm

The cast spends one busy week preparing the show so make sure if you register, you are available the entire week. To find out more about Missoula Children's Theatre please visit www.mctinc.org.
